Most PPP connections work just fine, but if the above method does NOT give you a connection, you can get more detailed information from:
Help is also available on the RedHat Mailing list, regularly monitored by a number of ``knowledgeable'' PPP users (including the author of the PPP-HOWTO) and the Linux newsgroups, particularly comp.os.linux.networking.
PLEASE do not email the author of this document directly (unless you have a comment or a correction). I read the Red Hat mailing list every day and will help when I can through that medium.
Also PLEASE make sure you describe your problem clearly. There is very little point in cluttering up the mailing lists or newsgroups with a statement such as "My PPP connection doesn't work - please help me!".
You need to tell the list what is not working - this means trying to work out what is going on BEFORE you post a message.
Similarly, do NOT post a message that contains pages of stuff from your syslog file (/var/log/messages). By all means cut out the relevant bits (or examples thereof) and include them.
Similarly, take extreme care about including your scripts - remember, these contain the phone number you call, your username and password which giove access to your ISP account.
If you do need to post your entire scripts (unlikely), then REMOVE these entries and replace them with XXXX or something!
