If the Creative Launcher is not active, click on Start, Programs, Creative and Creative Launcher. To disable Live News Update, move your mouse cursor to the top of the screen until you see the Creative Launcher, the gray task bar. Click on the Live Task tab. Find the gray icon that looks like a light bulb. (Note: You might have to click the triangle pointing to the right at the end of the task bar to see the icon.) Click the down arrow next to the light bulb icon. Monitor for lives news update needs to be unchecked. In order to uncheck the Live!News , just click on it. This will get rid of the blinking globe and it will not return the next time you restart your computer.
